Captioned Google Video!
Hooray, someone finally gets it! On September 19, 2006, Google Video team member Ken Harrenstien shares the good news on the Google Video blog. He writes
You know what this means don't you? Now that Google has absorbed You Tube, you may be able to find captioned uploads. More importantly, Google has the capability to eventually license and distribute VOD captioned movies. It may be a few years away, but it's coming!
By now, you may have noticed that we've just introduced a small but significant new feature that many of us have long awaited: playback of captions and subtitles! If you haven't tried it yet, you can go to this page, select a captioned video, and while playing it you can click on the [CC] symbol to turn captions on and off.
